Workout Wednesday: 5 Effective Fitness Classes For New Moms

I’d be lying if I said that I don’t cherish the time spent out of my house and on my own. No matter how many awesome workouts there are for working out with your baby, with the stroller, or at home, sometimes a gym workout is exactly what you need to get in some exercise while you unwind. So here are five awesome fitness classes that can help you burn calories quickly while you escape the chaos of home.

  1. Kickboxing

This is, by far, my favorite workout. You burn calories extremely quickly while kickboxing; some classes leave you burning 1,000 calories or more for an hour workout. It’s very easy to pick up the basics and it’s a great way to relieve stress, making it the perfect workout for an overworked mom.

  1. Zumba

To some, Zumba might look a little strange. But the fast movements make it an effective calorie-burning workout. The loud music and catchy beats make it a fun workout, too. One Zumba class can leave you feeling recharged and ready to handle anything life has to throw at you.

  1. Cycle

It seems like cycling classes have been around since the dawn of time, and for good reason. Cycling classes are great for weight loss. You get your heart rate up quickly and it’s a very low impact activity, saving your joints from a world of pain.

  1. Boot Camps

Boot camp classes are also great for getting in shape. They combine cardio with strength training, giving you a great total body workout. Classes are usually very motivational, so it might give you the extra push to make it to the end without falling asleep.

  1. Pilates

Pilates might not look as intense as all of the other workouts on this list, but don’t let that fool you. It’s actually a great way to burn calories because it focuses on your core. Even better, it’s a relaxing workout that can help you de-stress.
