Fashion Friday: Cool Mom Accessories

Posted by Heather Aulisio on

Moms are busy. But, busy moms can have great style. One thing I’m proud of the most is the way I accessorized my outfits, whether I stayed home all day or went out with my son. Here are some cool mom accessories that I absolutely loved because they were stylish yet fully functional!

  1. Teething Beads

It’s a necklace. It’s a teether. It’s awesome! A teething necklace was one of my favorite accessories. My son had a terrible time with teething, so I was glad I had one always on hand (I mean, around my neck). Plus, I love how earthy and simple the necklace was. I felt as though I could wear it with a number of outfits. Plus, it was one less thing I had to pack in a diaper bag.

  1. Yoga Nursing Bra

I couldn’t wait to get my fitness on once I was cleared to work out again. But, as a nursing mom, I had to make sure that I was able to nurse my son in-between sets. So, a fun and supportive nursing bra is a must have undergarment. Look for something not only comfy and stylish, but anti-microbial and free from harmful substances that your baby could come in contact with.

  1. Nursing Scarf

Many moms opt for using a nursing cover when feeding their baby in public. I say why carry around anything extra? I loved wearing a nursing scarf because it was always a part of my outfit. Your best bet is to pick up something in a neutral tone so it can complement a number of your outfits.

  1. Purse Diaper Bag

I was originally gifted a traditional diaper bag, but I ended up trading it for something else. It was just way too big, and I wasn’t able to carry around my own purse because my hands were too full. Solution? I picked up a diaper bag that actually looked like a traditional satchel. It was easy to carry, the perfect size to hold everything my baby needed, but it wasn’t a blatant, in your face baby bag. I love it (and how it always enhanced my ensembles).

  1. A Stroller Organizer

Who said you couldn’t give your stroller a pop of pizzazz? After all, you’ll be pushing it around pretty much everywhere, so it technically counts as a major accessory. I found a cool, chevron organizer that snapped onto the handlebars. It was a great place to hold my own items when I didn’t want to bring my purse, or put my son’s items when I needed the bottom storage compartment free to hold other items when I was shopping at the farmer’s market.

Accessories are not only fun to wear and shop for, but they can totally transform an outfit. Hopefully one of my five suggestions will make their way into your closet!
