Brr! Baby, its cold outside. One way to protect the baby you have growing inside is to wear a warm, winter coat. But, depending upon where you are in your pregnancy, wearing a coat may be tough due to your changing waist line. Don’t fret! Read on to learn a few important tips so you pick out a winter coat that fits you fabulously.
Tip #1-Opt for a Belt
And, by belt, I mean one that can be wrapped and tied into a bow or knot. Not a belt that has to be secured in a loop with a fastener. Why? You can adjust how tight or loose you want your coat to be around your belly, and the coat will adjust to your changing body while keeping you warm. A traditional belt can get a little tricky to close toward the end of your pregnancy.
Tip #2-Go bright
You’re pregnant. Don’t hide it, flaunt it. This is a proud moment in your life. Plus, let’s be honest; you’re going to get noticed sooner than later. So, you might as well pick out a hot hue and work it. This winter, consider picking up a coat in neon pink, electric blue, or even lime green. Contrary to popular belief, super bright colors really bring out the best in everyone’s skin tone. Think of the bold color as an instant pick me up in drab and dull winter weather.
Tip #3-Choose a large print
Many women who wear prints on coats feel as though they should choose a small print. As your belly pops and your measurements change to accommodate your growing baby, a small print will make you look larger than what you are. A large print will actually mask a large belly, and wearing a print on an outdoor item always makes a strong fashion statement. This is important because many mommies to be feel as though they can’t dress up and have fun. You can! And you will.
Tip #4-Look for an empire waist
An empire silhouette cinches just below the bust, and flares out beautifully over the body. This makes for a wonderful winter coat feature for any pregnant woman. After it cinches, it leaves lots of room for a baby bump, and even provides a little shape and structure to your outdoor ensemble.
Winter is a time to bundle up. Hopefully, you’ll take these four tips and tricks into consideration so you look gorgeous and glowing in a warm winter coat.
